We hope you all had a great turkey day! We spent our Thanksgiving with the Gabriel side of the family again this year and had a fabulous day - and ate SO much food. We had our turkey with all the trimmings - mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, squash casserole, rolls, stuffing (of course!) spinach balls and a pineapple and cheese side dish thoughtfully provided by Richard's sister. I tried out a few new recipes this year and will stick with those for future Thanksgivings - they all turned out great! For dessert we had the usual fare - pecan and apple pies, yum!
I tried out a new recipe for our mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and green bean casserole. I'm really not a fan of the traditional green bean casserole so I was excited to find this one to try and wow, was it good! I used this recipe for our mashed potatoes, as I knew it would save me some time and some stove spaced and it was delicious. The potatoes even kept their creaminess when they were leftovers - something that never seems to happen with leftover mashed potatoes. And the last recipe I tried was this macaroni and cheese recipe, with some modifications (no bread crumbs, a couple different kinds of cheese sprinkled on time, extra seasoning) and Lily loved it, which is really the true test of macaroni and cheese in our house!
