Mommy and Daddy Vacay

You may have remembered from my Christmas post that I got Richard a small vacation for his Christmas present and on MLK weekend, we got to enjoy our mini vacation at North Beach Plantation in North Myrtle Beach. We had a blast. I don't think we've been anywhere by ourselves in a really long time and it was nice to just enjoy each others' company. We ate fabulous food, shopped at Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach and even got to go to Medieval Times (my first time). All in all, it was a fantastic trip. We really enjoyed the resort (although we don't recommend their breakfast buffet) and especially loved their onsite restaurant, 21 Main. Holy cow, their food was fabulous. I think we both agreed that Medieval Times was the highlight of our trip, even though our knight lost (go green knight!!). We had a great time cheering him on anyway. And at the end of our trip, we were so happy to see our little munchkin. She had a fantastic time with her Nana, Paca and Aunt Katie - they took great care of her. This was the longest we'd ever been away from her and it was tough!

First day hanging out at Barefoot

North Beach at night

Off to dinner at 21 Main!

All set for Medieval Times!

These horses are amazing

Sad that our knight lost :(

The Little Ballerina

In January, we enrolled Lily in a ballet class that's offered through the City of Raleigh, but taught by a dance teacher with her own company - Right Moves Dance. We weren't quite sure how Lily was going to do. Her teacher has a rule that parents aren't allowed in the room while class is being taught and this was definitely something new for Lily. We had a tough time the first couple of weeks, with some tears and sneaky exits out the classroom door by Lily, but she seems to have gotten used to it now and will just peek through the glass at me a few times during class now. She seems to love going and learning the dances and they are actually going to have a recital in June - I'm excited to see this!

Marbles Galore!

Lily and I got to visit Marbles twice over Christmas vacation. We went once, just the two of us, to check out a IMAX movie (Into the Arctic, wonderful) and to spend an afternoon at Marbles. We actually hadn't been in a few months, so it was a lot of fun to see how Lily had changed and how she interacted with the exhibits now.

The second time we went, we met my friend Sarah Beth and her son Jaxon and one of his preschool buddies and his mom to spend the morning of New Year's Eve. Marbles does a great New Year's Eve celebration and they had a ton of people there to celebrate. At noon, they "dropped the ball" and had their own version of fireworks to ring in the new year - bubble wrap! They threw down layers and layers of bubble wrap and the kids downstairs jumped all over it, while the people upstairs (including me and Lily) tossed down confetti to the people waiting below. It was a lot of fun - maybe we'll head back next year for it again!
