This is technically my third Mother's Day, even though my munchkin is only 2. She was born right before Mother's Day in 2010 and so I got to celebrate even though she was only a week or so old. Every year, including the first year, I take the time to sit down and thank God for the gift I've been given with Lily and reflect on the joy she brings me. I don't think a day goes by that I don't say thank you for her - but on this day when mothers everywhere are being celebrated, I want to give thanks for the incredible blessing I have in her. I know how lucky I am to have her and I never want to take that for granted. I hope that as she grows I am the mother she needs me to be and the mother I desperately want to be for her.
Of course, I also have to give thanks for my mom. I have been so blessed with the parents I have - they are supportive, kind, caring, strong, Godly people who have provided a wonderful example for me - one I hope to live up to. My mom is such a strong woman - she raised 3 daughters (probably need to interject a comment regarding the strength, tolerance and patience my dad had to have in a house with 4 women and our dog Molly), who I (personally) think have turned out pretty well and is now in the process of helping with grandkids whenever she has the chance. She is incredibly loving, patient, fun, hardworking, caring, selfless and loves to laugh. Recently, she ran her first 5K and I can't tell you how unbelievably proud we were of her, not just in finishing the race, but in the week of training she put in leading up to the race. Mom - I want you to know how much I love you and how absolutely grateful I am that God gave me to you and Dad to raise. Thank you for all you've done and all you continue to do as both my mom and Lily's Nana. We love you so much! Happy Mother's Day to you.
