That's right - our Lilypie is 11 months old! She's getting to be such a big girl; everyday she changes more from a baby to a toddler and it's amazing to watch her grow.
This month, some of her newest achievements include doing some cruising around the furniture, taking some steps while holding onto mommy and daddy's hands, trying to stand on her own, saying "quack quack" and "arf arf" when asked what a duck and puppy say, clapping and using only sippy cups - no more bottles for this girl! Here's a video of her clapping - too cute!
Lily now has 2 teeth and we think she's working on another one on the top. She's using those teeth to eat lots of solid foods now! She's had a couple of big girl lunches, with no purees at all. I think she's quite proud of herself :). She really loves macaroni and cheese and deli sliced turkey, as well as broccoli (who knew??) and pears. She's not a huge fan of green beans, but she'll eat them, for the most part. There really isn't anything we've found that she won't eat, thank goodness! I'm looking forward to introducing her to the new spring and summer veggies and fruits that will be in season soon.
In addition to her solid foods, she's also getting milk, as usual, but only in a sippy cup. Over the past month or so, we've slowly moved from bottles to sippy cups and she's been just fine with it. I think she likes the idea of being able to feed herself easily with a sippy cup and they're much more portable than bottles (in her mind). A few weeks ago, we started supplementing her with an organic baby formula (Earth's Best), as my pumping just wasn't generating the milk supply she needed during the day for her cups and cereal. She was still nursing at least a couple of times a day up until the past couple of weeks. But, that's changed pretty rapidly recently. Last week, she took it upon herself to refuse her before bedtime feeding. From what I've read, this is usually the last one to go, but for some reason, she decided she was ok without it. Then this past weekend, she also decided that she was fine without her early morning feeding, sleeping well past her normal feeding time and ready to eat her cereal with her sippy cup of milk when she woke each morning. So, it looks like we have moved past the nursing stage with my Lilypie. In a way, it makes me sad that she doesn't need me for that now, but it's also exciting to see her enter this next stage of her life. I'll continue pumping each day until she reaches a year, so that she can have at least a serving of breastmilk in her sippy cup or cereal each day.
