This year for Lily's birthday, she decided she wanted to have a Minnie and Mickey Mouse themed birthday. Unbeknownst to her, this was a perfect theme - because we are heading to Disney world this fall! But she had no idea at the time that we'd be going. It was ironic and funny :) So we had friends and family over to celebrate her day and eat lots of good food. I actually made her cakes this year (and Aunt Cara helped with the decorating of them) and they were a lot of fun to make! Lily chose to have both a cookie cake and a pink velvet cake, both with some sort of chocolate icing.
Just the 4 of us spent the day together on her actual birthday. She got to decide what we did, so we headed to Marbles for the morning and then to Red Robin for lunch. It was a fun day! I think her 5th birthday was a special one for her. It was bittersweet for me. I just can't believe she's 5 (some days, 5 going on 15...) and that she will be heading to Kindergarten soon. Slow down time!
