Goodness, I am way behind on my posting! Here comes some catch up posts...
The weekend before last, October 15th after Lily's last swim lesson, we headed to the State Fair to enjoy our annual fill of fried goodies. I don't think we've gone to the Fair on the first Saturday it opens - and I don't think we will again. It was SO crowded. We actually got caught in a traffic jam of people for about 10 minutes (elbow to elbow, no room to go anywhere) on our way in and got stuck in another jam on our way out - it was insane!
We made our usual food stops (hot dogs for me and Richard, a corn dog for Lily, funnel cake for all three of us and some ice cream to share later on) and then headed over to check out the prize winning veggies and animals. Because we visited the Fair so early this year, none of the animal shows for the prize winning cows, horses, pigs, etc, had been done yet, so we just did a quick round of the animals (it was quite crowded) and then headed on to the craft exhibits. Lily's swim teacher had entered in a cake she had made (Rapunzel's tower from Tangled) and had won first place with it, so we definitely wanted to go see her cake. She really did a fantastic job! Once we made our tour of the craft buildings, we were pretty much Fair-ed (and people-ed) out. We made one last stop at the lake inside the Fair to let Lily wander at the lake and then headed to the car. On our way to the car, we stopped to take our annual pictures with the wolves at Carter-Finley. See you next year State Fair!
